بین الاقوامی طبی جریدے ’’دی جرنل جرنل نیوٹریشن‘‘ میں شائع ہونے والی تحقیق کے مطابق امریکی ادارہ برائے زرعی ترقی سے منسلک ماہرین نے اوسطاً 50 برس کے 56 صحت مند افراد کو 8 ہفتوں تک اپنی نگرانی میں رکھا اس دوران ماہرین نے ان کی دوران خون اور جسم میں شکر کی مقدار کا معائنہ کیا۔ ماہرین نے دیکھا کہ وہ افراد جنہیں دن میں مرتبہ گوندنی کا جوس دیا گیا ان میں دیگرکے مقابلے میں دل کی بیماریوں کا خدشہ 10 جب کہ فالج کا خدشہ 15 فی صد کم دیکھا گیا.

واشنگٹن یونیورسٹی اسکول آف میڈیسن میں میں ایک اہم مطالعہ کیا گیا جس سے معلوم ہوا کہ جوس پینے کے صرف 2 گھنٹے بعد ہی دل پر اس کے اچھے اثرات پڑنے لگتے ہیں اس سے قبل کھلاڑیوں اور دوڑنے والوں کو جب چقندر کا رس پلایا گیا تو ان کی کارکردگی میں 13 فیصد بہتری نوٹ کی گئی اس کے بعد ڈاکٹروں نے اسے ایسے مریضوں پر آزمایا گیا جو دل کا دورہ برداشت کر چکے تھے۔

مطالعہ کے مطابق اس کے لیے 9 مریضوں کو پابندی سے چقندر کا جوس پلایا گیا تو 2 گھنٹے بعد ہی ان کے دل کے پٹھوں میں فوری اور تیز کام کی کارکردگی دیکھی گئی تاہم بہت لمبے ٹیسٹ میں کارکردگی ذیادہ مؤثر نہیں تھی۔ ماہرین کے مطابق چقندر فوری طور پر بلڈ پریشر کو کنٹرول کرتا ہے جب کہ یہ عمررسیدہ افراد میں یہ رس پٹھوں کو بھی مضبوط کرتا ہے۔
